I’m a middle-aged guy from Warren County, New Jersey who now lives in Roxbury, Connecticut. The cycling here is outstanding – We have quiet back roads, mile after mile of quieter dirt roads, and a choice of mountain biking trails. I own 5 bikes; a carbon-fiber Orbea road bike, a 2015 GT Grade 105 gravel and commuter bike, a 20 something year old Specialized Sirrus that was my gravel and commuter bike, and now serves as a spare and a trainer bike, a 1985 Ross mountain bike that I just hung up in favor of a 2016 Specialized Fuse Comp6 Fattie (a hardtail 27.5+ mtb). All of them except the Fuse have Brooks saddles. I bike to work year-round, ice permitting. It’s a 32 mile round trip, so a good week sees me doing it 3, maybe 4 times. I was a carpenter and still love building things, but regular paychecks, insurance, and vacation time lured me into journalism. I’ve written a couple of books on carpentry, and I’m a senior editor at Fine Homebuilding magazine.
